Chrysanthemum flowers are cultivated in the highlands and is a leading export. Chrysanthemum belong to family Asteraceae, which is the second largest family of flowering plants, after the family Orchidaceae. Chrysanthemum is named from the Greek prefix chrys-, which means golden (the colour of the original flowers), and -anthemon, meaning flower.
However, nowadays, there are many hybrids and thousands of cultivars of Chrysanthemum, developed for hourticulture purposes. We may find the flower occur in various forms, such as daisy-like, decorative, pompons or buttons. More over, besides its traditional of yellow, other colours are available, such as red, white, purple, and even green.
